HENRY HUDSON VOYAGE FACTS

• One of his sons John sailed with him all four times
• His goal was to find a Northwest passage to Cathay via above the Arctic in Circle
• He sailed to present day North Carolina
• Also explored Chesapeake Bay and Delaware Bay
• When the survivors on his ship Discovery reached England they were imprisoned because they left Henry and John on a little boat with no oars and 7 loyal crew members. They were never seen again.
• Katherine ordered a ship to find them but was unsuccessful
• Henry's first two voyages were sponsored by England, and the last two by Dutch East India Company
