- Hepatitis B is a serious disease caused by the hepatitis B virus (HBV).
- Unprotected sex
- IV drug use
- Blood, body fluid exposure
- Hepatitis B is a non-curable virus
WHAT ARE THE SYMPTOMS
- Abdominal and joint pain
- Dark urine
- Fever
- Nausea and vomiting
- Loss of appetite
Is Hepatitis B contagious?
This virus is only contagious when passed from a mother to a newborn baby.
How is the disease treated?
For infections, such as Hepatitis B, antibiotics have no value in the treatment of this infection.
Is there a cure?
There are no cures for viruses, however some symptoms may be temporary.
Continue care required?
-Long term therapy(to prevent cancer)
-antiviral drugs
-bioflavonoids (for infected tissue)
WHAT STEPS SHOULD BE TAKEN TO PREVENT?
- Abstinence
- Condom
- Birth control
- Abstain from sexual behavior
