HERBERT CLARK HOOVER

EARLY LIFE

• Hoover was born August 10, 1874 in West Branch, Iowa
• He had a rough childhood
• when he was 6 years old his father died 3 years later his mother died
• He then moved to Oregon to be raised by his aunt and unlce
• He went to Sanford University

PRESIDENTAL TERM

• March 4, 1929- March 4, 1933
• 31st President
• He ran against Alfred E. Smith

HOOVER- THE WARS

• He organized the relief efforts in the Boxer Rebellion
• 4 years later he helped stranded Americans in WW1

HOOVER IN THE DEPRESSION

• Hoover blamed himself for the cause of the depression
• He aslo tried to to contact business leaders to not cut wages
• 1932- the Reconstruction Finance Corporation helped banks

HOOVERS DEATH

• Died on October 20, 1964
• He died in New York
• He died of eternal bleeding
