Genetics -
Genetics is the study of genes, heredity, and variation in living organisms.
Heredity -
passing of traits to offspring from their parents.
Characteristics -
a feature or quality belonging typically to a person, place, or thing and serving to identify it.
Traits -
a distinguishing characteristic or quality, especially of one's personal nature.
Inherited traits-
A trait or character that is genetically inherited or passed down from generation to generation.
Acquired traits-
a physical characteristic that is not inherited but may be an effect of the environment or of a somatic mutation.
DNA -
Deoxyribonucleic acid is a molecule that encodes the genetic instructions used in the development and functioning of all known living organisms and many viruses.
Chromosomes -
packaged and organized chromatin, a complex of macromolecules found in cells, consisting of DNA, protein and RNA
Genes -
molecular unit of heredity of a living organism.
Alleles -
number of alternative forms of the same gene or same genetic locus.
