HERMES

Hermes was known famously as the messenger for all of the gods. He was related to a trickster and a friend to thieves. He wore a winged hat and shoes and carried a wand.

  • He had MANY mistresses and children.
  • He tricked gods/goddesses to protect others & himself.

THEY START YOUNG?

  • When Hermes was a baby, he was said to have "jumped out" of his crib and steal Apollo's cattle then he went back and played innocent. Apollo accused him of this act to Hermes's father, Zeus. He did not punish the kid. As an apology present, Hermes gave Apollo a lyre.

  • In the Odyssey, Odysseus was insturcted by Hermes to eat a magical herb so he wouldn't get turned into an animal by Circe's powers.
