TIMELINE

• The year of 1485 Cortes was born in Medellin,Spain
• In 1504 Cortes sails for Hispaniola, in the Caribbean.
• In 1511 Cortes helps conquer the island of cuba.
• In the 1519-21 Cortes conquers the Aztec empire and takes over most of mexico .
• 1524-25 Cortes leads an expedition to secure the territory for Spain .

• In 1535 a Cortes expedition discovers the gulf of California .
• In 1536 Cortes sets up the first Spanish colony in lower California .
• In1547 Cortes dies near Seville, Spain .

• At age 16,he left school to seek adventure and wealth.
• In 1504, Cortes sailed to Hispaniola to seek his fortune .
• Cortes was enormously wealthy when he returned to Spain in 1540 and he lived there for the rest of his life
• In November of 1519 , Cortes and his army entered the Aztec capital .
• Cortes took advantage of the Indians show of friendliness .
