BRAVE

"Mr.Link Deas rose form the audience and announced '...that boys' worked for me eight years and I ain't had a speck of trouble out of him...'"(19)

Mr. Deas rose from the audience in the courtroom to stand up for Tom. He knew Judge Taylor would yell at him and might even kick him out of the courtroom and throw him in jail for interfering with the trial, but he stood up anyway.

INSPIRING

"You don't have to touch her [Bob Ewell], all you have to do is make her afraid, an' if assault ain't enough to keep you locked up a while..." (27)

After Mr.Deas stood up for Helen Robinson, everyone in the town was inspired to be like him.

MORAL

Mr. Deas fought for blacks' fair treatment by standing up for them. He believed they deserved the same rights as white people.
