HOW IT STARTED

• Company opened in 1894
• Started when Milton Hershey wanted to coat his carmel in chocolate
• In 1900 started to produce milk chocolate bars, wafers, and other shapes

Milton Hershey wanted to create the perfect formula so that he could produce milk chocolate cheaply but high quality.

In 1899 he came up with his perfect recipe and became the first American to produce milk chocolate

• Hershey built his chocolate factory in Derry Township, PA
• Close to New York and Philadelphia ports that imported sugar and cocoa beans
• Had dairy farms that supplied milk needed

Hershey's Chocolate became a huge success. Now everyone could buy chocolate at an affordable price.
