  • Hilary Clinton was born in Chicago on October 26, 1947.
  • She is the eldest of three. 
  • Attended Maine East High School in Park Ridge, Illinois.
  • Participated in student council, the school newspaper, and NHS. 
  • Enrolled at Wellesley College and majored in political science.

Before Marriage

  • Applied for NASA but was rejected b/c girls were not accepted.
  • Inspired by Martin Luther King to become a part of some public service. 
  • 1970: secured a grant and worked for Children's Defense Fund.
  •  Washington, D.C. to work on Sen. Mondale's subcomm. migrant workers.  
  • 1974, became a faculty member at Univ. Arkansas Law School. 

Marriage

  • Hillary Clinton married boyfriend Bill Clinton.
  • They met at the Univ. Arkansas Law School.
  • They got married October 11, 1975.
  • Had a daughter, Chelsea, Feb. 27, 1980. 

After Marriage

  • Hillary joined the Rose Law Firm in Little Rock. 
  • Twice named to the list "The 100 Most Influential Lawyers"
  • Husband was governor of Arkansas.
  • Involved in many committees related to children.
  • Also wrote a weekly newspaper column "Talking it Over"

  • Most successful accomplishment: Children's Health Insurance Program 1997
  • Sought to increase research funding for illnesses such as prostate cancer.
  • Helped to fund research towards illnesses of vets from Agent Orange.
  • Cited the Adoption and Safe Families Act of 1997.
