  • The Vedas are the most sacred texts in the Hindu religion.
  • It means the books of wisdom
  • Rig Veda (Wisdom of the Verses)
  • Yajur Veda (Wisdom of the Sacrificial Formulas)
  • Atharva Veda (Wisdom of the Atharvan Priests)

Shiva

  • He is an avenger, the creator and destroyer
  • He represents sensuality
  • Saved the world by holding the poison in his throat that was going to kill mankind

  • Another Hindu god that has the head of an elephant
  • He was made to protect his mothers privacy
  • Ganesha is representing 4 animals
  • Those animals are snake, mouse, elephant, and man

  • Existed since at least 2000B.C.
  • Founder unknown
  • Started in India

DIWALI

  • It celebrates a New Year
  • Lasts 5 days

  • Celebrates when spring comes
  • Have public bonfires
  • Spray colored water
  • Go crazy

BRAHMAN

  • Is believed to create everything and lives in everything
  • Has many other names
  • Most commonly known as Brahman

KARMA

  • Prarabdha karma, the type that's going on currently
  • Sancita karma, the type of karma that hasn't been used to plan anything yet
  • Agamin karma, the karma that has been planned for the future

LOTUS

  • A symbol
  • Shows beauty and non-attachment
  • Tells them not to get attached to things due to rebirth

CONFLICTS

  • In 1946 there was a conflict they had in the past, but it grew a lot
  • They had to split India up for them
  • It didn't work though
  • Hindus blamed Muslims for splitting up the country

WORSHIP

  • Includes drama and dance
  • Done in homes
  • No certain days
  • Usually at dawn

REFLECTION

  • Hinduism is a very unique religion
  • It has holidays that include weird traditions
  • It also has cool gods with great stories
  • Many things are not ridiculous so it is a great religion
  • It is still fitting today unlike ones needing illegal things done
