INSPIRATION
Watching the stars and seeing how they moved caused Hipparchus to wonder if all the stars are in motion.

MAJOR CONTRIBUTIONS
Hipparchus gave a range of values to the distance to the moon, within the true distance is. His calculations led him between 59 and 67 Earth radii.

MAJOR CONTRIBUTIONS
Hipparchus compared his observations of the solar eclipse in Syene and in Alexandria to determine the distance to the moon.

REACTIONS
The people of today are grateful for his discoveries. He gave the astronomers after him something to go off of. he caused us to know some of what we know now.

He is considered the greatest ancient astronomical observer. He is the founder of trigonometry. He produced a table of chords.

His achievements include the discovery of Earth's precession, the first comprehensive star catalog of the western world, also the armillary sphere.

END OF LIFE
Hipparchus died on the island of Rhodes Greece. The cause of death is unknown. He died in the year of 120 BC.
