The earliest in his life is when he first became interested in astronomy, finding a new star in the constellation Scorpio

Background:
Hipparchus was born in Nicaea in190 BC
(Present day Turkey)

Inspiration:
Hipparchus became interested in astronomy when he noticed a new star in the constellation Scorpio

He wanted to know if stars just developed out of no where, so he made a star map so if he wasn't sure if a star was there before he could look at the map.

Interests:
Hipparchus took interest in the zodiac signs, like any other Greek, but he also helped Menelaus and Ptolemy invent trigonometry.

The solar and lunar theory:
Where the Earth blocks the suns rays from partially reaching the moon

He also found a way to measure the distance from Earth to the Moon

Reaction:
We still use the terms solar and lunar eclipse today

End of life:
Hipparchus was assassinated by 2 members of the honored clan Gephyraioi
