MAO ZE DONG

  • Born in 1893
  • He decided to organise a revolution of rural peasants
  • He tried to create or improve to a "Modern China" but failed
  • Many of his policies such as cultural revolution brought suffering to the Chinese
  • He helped organise a peasant movement in southern China during the early 1920s

KUOMINTANG(KMT)

  • A nationalism group that fought against the Mao and the CPC
  • Leader of the KMT is called Chiang Kai Shek
  • KMT lost the war and decided to retreat to Taiwan

THE END OF QING DYNASTY

  • End in 1911
  • Because of the lost of Opium War
  • And China had to lend Hong Kong to UK for 99 years
  • Many people started to rebell
  • Tai Ping Rebellion , Boxer Rebellion

WHEN MAO HASN'T GOTTEN ANY POWER YET......

  • HIs father was a wealthy farmer
  • He has a nationalist and communism mind since he was little
  • In 1921, he became a member of the Communist Party of China (CPC)

THE RISE OF MAO

  • In 1927, during the Chinese civil war, fought against the Kuomintang(KMT)
  • Mao was one of the founder of the Red Army
  • He became the leader of CPC during the Long March
  • In 1937, CPC allied with KMT during the Second Sino-Japanese War (1937–45)
  • In 1949, Mao's forces defeated the Nationalists who withdrew to Taiwan.

  • In 1946, CPC and KMThad a war again
  • Mao won the war and KMT had to retreat to TaiWan
  • On October1 1949, Mao became the founder of the People's Republic of China
  • Mao became the leader of China

THE FAILURE OF MAO

  • He launched the Great Leap Forward,
  • a policies that change China from an agrarian economy to an industrial
  • Many people starved, at least 45 million people died

  • China's youth forming the Red Guard
  • It resulted in widespread factional struggles in all walks of life.
