COLUMBIAN EXCHANGE

  • 2 way distribution of plants & animals.
  • This was the main cause for the "Great Dying".
  • Brought new plants and animals into "new world" from the "old world".
  • Europe took a special intrst in American food.
  • The massive improve in the diets lead to a massive jump in the population

ATLANTIC SLAVE TRADE

  • The "Great Dying" forced Europeans to look to Africans as other source of labor.
  • Africans could survive the diseases that others couldn't.
  • Africans were taken captive in war then sold.
  • Traded slaves for rum, guns and other goods.
  • Europeans carried the enslaved Africans across the Atlantic, voyage called Middle Passage.

COMMERCIAL REVOLUTION

  • When Europe made a step in the form of a true global economy.
  • People began producing more goods for sale rather than their own use.
  • Kings hoped to increase their power through system of mercantilism.
  • bankers and merchants laid the foundations for the free enterprise system.
  • Developed new ways of raising in lending money.
