  • ANZAC stands for Australian New Zealand army corps.
  • The Anzacs Landed in Galipoli on the 25.4.1915. 
  • the cove where they landed was later called the Anzac cove.
  • They fought for nine long months.
  • During that time 120,000 soldiers died.

History continued

  • The ANZACS aim was to capture the Dardinelles.
  • The first ANZAC day was on the 16th of April 1916.
  • The french and the British were fighting against the Turkish also.
  • Anzac day is very important to Australian and New Zealanders. 

Gallipoli peninsula

Gallipoli is in Turkey.

Flanders field

  • The poppy is a symbol of ANZAC day it is in remembrance of the soldiers
  • who have passed and who are still serving for us. 
  • Flanders or red poppies are linked with battlefield deaths.
  • it was the first plant to grow in the mud.
  • The poem Flanders field was written by John McCrae in 1915.

The anzac ode.

The ode was written my Laurence Binyon in 1914.

why we celebrate anzac day

  • to remember the soldiers that lost their lives fighting in gallipoli .
  • It also honours those soldiers who returned safely.
  • people can pay their respects to family members who died at 
  • war.
  • time to think about current soldiers still serving overseas.

Anzac day is important because...it is a special time to remember all the brave soldiers who fought for new zealand, or who are still serving our country in the Army,Navy or Air Force
