WILLIAM SHAKESPEARE

THE LIFE OF A "PLAYER"

William Shakespeare was born in April of 1564 and was baptized a few days later. He was supposedly educated in local King Edward VI Grammar School in Stratford.

After a big gap in his documented life next of what we know comes marriage. He marries Anne Hathaway, they have twins: Hamnet and Judith. But the son died we he was just 11 years old.

Next, Shakespeare gains some recognition becoming an actor. Which is what probably what got him into playwriting.

Shakespeare became a play writer and his most revered work were in his series of 37 plays between 1589 and 1613. The plays were established in three separate periods.

Shakespeare's first period of plays were several historical dramas, including Henry VI and Richard III. While they were good plays, his first early writing stage was not fully stylized.

Shakespeare's second period of plays were radical comedies, which were heavily influenced by the Italianate and Renaissance periods. They were critically acclaimed.

His final pieces, the third period of plays were the most controversial. They were Tragedies. Violent, sorrowful stories such as Hamlet, Macbeth, and Cleopatra all shared similar themes like betrayal and jealousy.

His final plays while darker, were still masterpieces in their own right. Yet, it almost seemed as though Shakespeare became more bitter as he grew old.

Going from starting out writing historical plays, to being more free writing comedies. And then suddenly writing tragedies was kind of odd.

But, William Shakespeare is one of the most notable names in the world even today. Redefining and recreating the writing of plays. He is definitely a legend.
