PRESENTATION OUTLINE

GAME OBJECTIVE

  • To hit the ball w/arms or hands to your opposing team in such a way that they unable tho return it
  • Errors are called 'faults'
  • When the opposing team makes a 'fault' it is called 'side outs
  • When 'side outs' occur the opposing team gets the ball and a chance to serve
  • Rotation is always in the clockwise direction.

GAME OBJECTIVE (C..)

  • The first team to get to 15 points and is winning by at least 2 points wins
  • A match consist of winning the best out of three games.

COURT

  • The court must be at least 60 ft. Long and 30ft. Wide.
  • It is divided by the center line and net.
  • The net is 7ft 4 in high from the ground to the top of the net for girls play
  • And 8ft for boys and co-ed play.
  • There are two 10ft. lines on the front of both sides of the court that divide the front positions from back positions

PLAYERS

  • There are 6 players allowed on court per team
  • They are positioned⤵️
  • 1⃣ right back (server)
  • 2⃣ center back
  • 3⃣ left back

PLAYERS (C..)

  • 4⃣ left foward.
  • 5⃣ center foward
  • 6⃣ right foward
  • The server must serve behind base line

SERVING

  • The serve must be overhand, underhand, or sidearm
  • The server must wait until the referee signals him/her to do so
  • The following are illegal⤵️
  • 1⃣ if the ball does not go over the net and land in opponents court
  • 2⃣ if the ball touches the net on the serve. (OLD RULE)

SERVING (C..)

  • 3⃣ if the ball hits the poles
  • 4⃣ if the server steps on or over the line before or during services=foot fault

TYPES OF HITS

  • You may hit the ball with hands as long as you don't hit w/an open hand
  • Closed grip only; unless setting w/ fingertips

SET

  • Set: used for high hit balls above your shoulders and head
  • A. Fingertips contact with the ball
  • B. elbows are flexed and out away from your body about shoulder height
  • C. Get entire body under the ball; extend arms (thumbs out) hit it high

BUMP

  • Bump: used for balls hit to a medium level, waist high
  • A. Forearms contact the ball, both arms together
  • B. keep arms straight do not bend the elbows
  • C. Bend you knees swing your arms w/your shoulder joints
  • D. Keep head up extend knees and follow through

DIG

  • Dig: used for very low hit balls near the ground
  • A. Use 1 arm w/clenched fist hand contacts with ball
  • B. elbow is slightly bent
  • C. Reach under the low ball and with a quick action hit the ball up
  • D. This type of hit is used a an EMERGENCY

SPIKE

  • Spike:hard offensive stroke usually hit w/one hand by jumping up
  • The ball is hit at the top of the net in a hard action
  • Usually forwards spike after a set that is close to the net

RULES

  • 1⃣ only 3 hits are permitted on one side in order to get the ball over the net
  • 2⃣ NO player could hit the ball twice consecutively
  • 3⃣ two teammates hitting the ball at the same time shall be considered in play. And either player may
  • hit the ball again without a fault
  • 4⃣ lines are good if the ball hits on line it is considered in play

RULES (C..)

  • 5⃣ A PLAYER MAY HIT THE BALL IF IT IS OUT AS LONG AS IT HAS BOT HIT THE GROUND
