16th Century Spanish Coin

The Spaniards in the 16th century called their currency pesos. The image shows a coin that is equal to about 4 pesos. This currency changed into euros eventually when Spain founded Mexico and they took over currency. Silver, Ducats, and gold were used to create and manufacture coins in Spain. People were intrigued by coins and the way they were created. The coin brought new ideas to the country as well as intelligence in the community.

Spanish Amulet

Amulets were a major piece of religion in the world during the 16th century. Spain especially exaggerated religion because they were the main country of the christian religion. Amulets were used to void sins and to expel all evil surrounding the person. Amulets did not have to be used religiously, but this was the main practice of the artifact.

SPANIARD Cannon

The cannon was the first "mass destruction" weapon created in the world. Spain was one of the first civil countries with military to create the cannon in the early 1500's. The creation of the cannon led spain to rule most of Europe with their new powerful weapon. Although the cannon worked in Spain's favor, other countries began improving the cannon and making Spain regret making the cannon.

Chess!

The first chess board was created in Spain. The game was created to heighten peoples intelligence. The board and pieces were soon adapted into a very fun game to pass time for all ages. Spain was the first to claim the game, but the Valencians also claimed that they had they created the first board. Games very similar to chess were played as early as 600 A.D, but the game we know and love today was created by a Spaniard in Spain during the 1500's.

The beret

In Europe the beret was worn officially by military signifying the importance of the men fighting for their country. The inventor of the beret resigned in Spain from birth till death. The social significance of the Beret was adapted by a new trend that began in Britain. People were seen wearing these style of hats in Spain shortly after. The trend is still alive today.

Mosque–Cathedral of Córdoba

This mosque is like no other because of it's historical significance and how separated religions began to integrate. The mosque was separated equally between Muslims and Christians. The Catholics ruled this mosque during the 16th century and used it day and night for religious practices. The exiled Umayyad prince Abd al-Rahman I escaped to Iberia. He soon defeated the leader of Al-Andalus and his next plans were to form this mosque into strictly a temple.

Spanish Alter

Alter's in Spain were and are still the most important thing to most Spaniards religions which is mainly Catholicism. The practice of the religion in Spain began much before the 16th century, but the idea of an alter in every persons house began and spread quickly during the 1500's. It was not required to own an alter nor keep it in your house, but main practitioners of the religion refused not to own an alter.

Sword and cross of Isabella

Queen Isabella was the most fearless leader Spain had encountered, but not only was she fears, she had the most religious beliefs and practices. She believed in the most of god and had more faith than all of Spain combined. Isabella was no doubt the greatest leader Spain ever had.

World map

Spain's version of the world map was created in 1587. This was the first spain had discovered much land after columbus's discoveries of the new world and lands beyond. The map was very useful to navigate the Spaniards way through the seven sea's.

Ferdinand’s casket

Ferdinand was the king of Aragon, but when he died in the early 1500’s he was in spain. This is where the casket was made. There was much political discussion of where he would be buried considering he was not a spaniard originally, but he had passed away in the outskirts of spain.

Inviting jewish people back into spain in 1500’s

Spain dispelled jewish people from the country before the turn of the century. Although this was for reasons of religious views. It was very cruel and evil. This was nothing like WWII, but the spaniards were mainly diehard catholic meaning they were not so fond of other religions.

The Encomienda System

This system was Spain’s way of creating order in colonizing and exploring north to south America. This was very useful because of the order people had while conducting these searches of the wonderful new lands.

Cotton

Cotton in Spain was used for the “norm”, meaning they used it to make clothing and other necessary components for the normal day in a humans life. Spain created a new use for cotton during the 16th century. They found many ways cotton was useful. This lead to the finding of the new world. Not only did they have loads of cotton to now pick, but they have slaves to pick it for them.

SPANIaRD Ships

Ships that Spain had lead the world in navy. They used their newly founded knowledge to search for new lands. Although Spain did not know they new world could be found, they found it with the help of their large wooden ships usually navigated by a intellectual captain who knew the ocean around Spain, but not anywhere far or wide.

Troublesome System

This was a system spain used for time management with colonizing natives in North America. They used this to “kill two birds with one stone” meaning they colonized as quickly as possible because they knew they had to search far and wide.

"Economic Structure"

During the 16th century Spain created their very first own economic structure. Under the ruling of Charles V and Philip II Spain made their way to the top of the world relating to economics.

Encomiendas in Peru

This process was used to help out Spain’s friends Peru. They had economic problems which Spain soon cured for the small neighbor country. Spains economics are one of the best in the world during the 16th century mainly because they had not taken place in many wars in the past century. This gave Spain the ability to help other countries like Peru.

The reformers

This was Spain's way on lowering taxes on middle to lower class citizens who did not have much wealth. This was very important to Spain because money was the least of their worries and they did not want their citizens suffering from financial issues because they wanted them all to study the church and help out the catholic religion.
