HITLER YOUTH:

UNDER THE NAZI INFLUENCE

What is Hitler Youth

When Nazi forces took over Germany, children were taught to appreciate and respect Hitler's authority in a group known as Hitler Youth.

Hitler Youth Propaganda

The Nazi Party had propaganda that was made in order to entice kids ages ten and older. The propaganda made the Nazi party look good in the children's point of view.

Girl's Hitler Youth

The girl's version of Hitler Youth was different from the boy's group. Girls were taught how to become good mothers and wives.

Boy's Hitler Youth

The Boy's Hitler Youth program's sole purpose was to make the young boys grow up and become good Nazi soldiers.

Hitler Youth in Classrooms

To teach children to respect Hitler and to degrade the Jewish people, classrooms were changed to help children learn about the Nazi party.

Hitler Youth Teachers

Teachers that were appointed to teach Germany's youth had to believe in the Nazi party. In fact, 97% of the Nazi party was made up of school teachers.

Children in Hitler Youth

Kids that were a part of Hitler Youth did activities that would help the child be prepared for their future lives. For the boys, that was training to be a soldier, and the girls would become good mothers and wives.

Herbert Norkus

Herbert Norkus was one of the many kids to join Hitler Youth, but sadly he was one of the youngest members to be killed. Norkus was murdered when he was 15.

Elisabeth Vetter

Elisabeth Vetter was in the Hitler Youth program for girls. However, her parents did not want her to be participating in the program. Vetter told a Hitler Youth leader and had her parent arrested.

Hitler Youth Qualifications

Children had to be at least ten years old, and could NOT be Jewish. Handicapped children were also not allowed to join. Parents also had to be firm believers in the Nazi party.

Hitler Youth's participation in WW2

The Nazis let Hitler Youth members fight on the front lines. The older boys commanded troops of over 800 Hitler Youth boys into battle.

Girl and Boy Scouts

Girl and Boy Scouts are very similar to Hitler Youth, because they both have fun activities and earn badges. Children learn to become good leaders and hard workers.

Following Hitler's Footsteps

Children in Hitler Youth learn to become obedient, self-sacrificing, and the children learn to work as team. All of the kids in Hitler Youth wanted to be like Hitler.

Treatment of Jewish Children

Hitler Youth boys would yell at Jewish kids and even go as far as beating them up for no reason. Jewish children were tormented by Hitler Youth members for fun.

From Friend to Enemy

A majority of the Hitler Youth children were friends with Jewish boys before Hitler's rise to power, but after Hitler gained control the children abandoned their friends and would even beat them up with other Hitler Youth members.
