What is HIV/AIDS?
The human immunodeficiency virus is a lentivirus that causes the acquired immunodeficiency syndrome, a condition in humans in which progressive failure of the immune system allows life-threatening opportunistic infections and cancers to thrive.
Why is it so life threatening?
HIV prevents the body from fighting off infections, causing more severe consequences such as death.
Why are AIDS so dangerous?
AIDS (acquired immune deficiency syndrome) is the final stage of HIV disease, which causes severe damage to the immune system.
