LIFE IN THE JUNGEL

• Most of there food was fruit and an animal they killed
• A Lot of hmong people died from starvation and sickness
• Many returned to villages and the dream never came true

THE WAR ENDS

• The united states lost the vietnam war
• U.S troops withdrew from laos in 1975
• Hmong who fough against the communists are in danger

THE KILLING CONTINUES

• They hunted the Hmong secret army and there families
• The communist set the jungel on fire with napalm
• Many Hmong soldiers, civilians and children died b

CROSSING THE MEKOMG RIVER

• It took three of more hours to cross
• A good way to escape to get to Thailand
• Lots of danger walking nd going across the river
• Some swan, or made wooden boats to get across

DEATH IN THE WATER

• The mekong communist soldiers kept watch
• They searched the water for people trying to escape
• The would shoot anybody spotted in the water
• Often you would see dead bodys in the water

THE REFUGEE CAMPS

• 1975-1990 hundreds if thousands hmong fled laos
• Most who made it to Thailand where put in camps
• The united nation operated the camps
• More than 45,000 hmong lived in ban vinai
• Ban vinai was one of the cleanest camos out of all

LIVING CONDITIONS

• 10 families in one barrack and 200 people one bathroom
• Made of bamboo,dirt floors and straw roofs
• Some hade gardens and some depend on the camps

FAMILY IS IMPORTANT

• Most tryed to follow traditions
• If possible they live in groups or clans

THE HMONG CLANS

• Laos anf Thailand are the main area they came from
• Many different kinds of hmong
• Ghey wore hand woven clothes

NO WRITTEN LANGUAGE

• They like to record there experiences of the war
• Legend says the hade there own written words
• They stitched Hmong letters on clothes
• They had symbols, they forgot what they ment
