Why are they important?
Homer is important/famous because of his epic poems Iliad's and odyssey.(1)
Poems were written in Greece but has been translated to different languages.(2)
The pomes in the past were past on from generation to generation by means of oral commutation.(2)
Iliad's tells the story of the first Trojan war.(2)
Odyssey tells the story of the hero Adeses journey home after the war was over.

Homer was said to be a court singer and story teller.(3)
Some say that he was born on the island of Chios.(3) Some argue that he existed in Lonia.(3)
