- Large volcanic hotspot
- Lies beneath Yellowstone national park
- It has caused volcanic activity in Oregon, Nevada, Idaho, and Wyoming.
- The most recent super eruption known as the Lava Creek Eruption took place 640,000 years ago.
LOUISVILLE SEAMOUNT CHAIN
- This hotspot created underwater mountains.
- 932 miles in the South Pacific Ocean.
- These mountains were formed when the pacific plate moved in a northwestern direction.
