How a cell is like your house

Cell Membrane

It chooses what to let in and out of the cell.

It acts like the door which let's things in and out of the house.

Cytoplasm

It is a thick gel within the cell that holds all the organelles.

It acts like the air within the house which surrounds the furniture.

Mitochondria

They generate all the energy for the cell.

They act like the generator which generates all the energy for the house.

Nucleus

It controls the cells functions it is the brain of the cell.

It acts like my parents which control all the houses functions.

Ribosomes

They create proteins for the cell.

They kind of act like the stove which cooks all the meals we eat.

Endoplasmic Reticulum

It is a maze of passageways throughout the cell.

It acts like the pipes within the house which heat and water travel through.

Vacuole/s

They store the water and food for the cell.

They act like the fridge which stores our food and water.

Chromosome

It is the DNA and substance that directs the functions of the cell.

It acts like the computer in the house which holds the information in the house.

Cell Wall

It protects the cell and allows certain things to pass through.

It acts like the walls of the house which protect the house from the outside elements.

Chloroplast

They collect energy for the cell from the sun.

They act like the plants within the house which generate the oxygen we need.
