new media technology commonly refers to on demand content available through the internet. accessible on any digital device, usually containing interactive user feedback and creative participation
thinglink is a technology allowing users to annotate images. i used this in the research stage of my coursework to research and define the common conventions of media products including film trailers, posters and magazines. it was useful as i could directly identify the conventions onto the products.
this technology allows you to create a storyboard out of animated characters, and settings with text. i used this technology in the planning for both my preliminary product and my final trailer, allowing me to identify the shots that i needed to film in order for my trailer to work successfully.
youtube is a social media platform allowing users to create and view content in the form of videos. I used this technology in researching of existing trailers at number of stages and uploading and sharing my own final trailer to my blog.
prezi is an interactive presentation software which has the use of one large canvas where viewers can zoom and pan to emphasise content. i used this technology in the initial stage of research into my chosen genre of horror.
google slides is a presentation site offering a new take on the classic microsoft powerpoint software. i used this technology in the production of narrative ideas, it was useful as it allowed me to embed the presentation straight into my blog.
emaze is an online presentation platform which offers a variety of animations and video backgrounds. i used this technology to produce a 'how to' guide on trailer production. however, i found the technology harder to navigate and use than previous presentation tools such as prezi and google slides.
sketch is a design software tool which is simple to use, creating professional looking results. i used sketch for a number of stages in my production, including film title ideas, production company logos and the production of my final movie magazine and billboard poster products. i found it more useful than previous software such as fireworks as it is more up to date and simple.
padlet is a virtual 'wall' where you can insert text, notes and pictures.
i used this technology for the development of my treatment plan, writing my synopsis and for the evaluation of my preliminary product. it is useful as it allows for all of your ideas on one large page, whilst being easy to use.
survey monkey allows you to create your own questionaires and recieve and analyse the results for them. i used this technology to get audience feedback on my pitch, production company logos, title ideas and genre. it was useful in using audience feedback to make decisions.
imovie is an apple video editing software. i used imovie for the production of my film trailer to edit and put together my footage, adding music, sound effects and filters. it was useful and effective as is it fairly simple to use and allows a professional result.
