What is sound?
Sound is all around us.
Sound is made by a vibration. You hear sound when it goes to your ear.

.Sound travels in waves.
.It travels the fastest in a solid.
.Sound does not travel where no particles are present.
.Sound is measured with oscilloscope.
.The speed of sound in air is 332 metres per second.
. it has to go through our ears to be heard
. The scale of the loudness of the sound is measured in decibels.

we measure sound with a oscilloscope. Once the wavelenght is calculated the number of waves per second = the hertz
human hearing goes from
20hz to 20 000 hz (20khz). As you grow older your hearing range decreases (at around 20 years old it starts going back down)

Why does it travel fastest in a solid?

Sound travels via particles:
solid: 332/ms
water: 1493/ms
solid: 1482/ms
That is why sound doesn't travel in space because there are no particles!

Unwanted sound= noise
.Sound's loudness is measured in decibels (db)
minimum human hearing is around 15 decibels and the max without harming your hearing is around 80 decibels.e.g a baby makes 90 decibels sound wise.
