How Landmark Court Cases Define the Purpose of the U.S. Supreme courts
Supreme Courts:
The U.S. Supreme Court is the highest authority in the U.S. government's judicial branch. It was created by the Judiciary Act in 1789, under the provisions of the Constitution.
Marbury v. Madison was pivotal in establishing the belief of judicial review of laws made in Congress and thus helped to shape the government of the United States.
John Marshall (born September 24, 1755 – July 6, 1835) was the fourth Chief Justice of the Supreme Court 1801–1835. His opinions helped lay the basis for United States constitutional law and made the Supreme Court of the United States a coequal branch of government along with the legislative and executive branches.
