How Does Media Affect Body Image and Self Esteem of Men and Women?

The body image advertising potrays seldom looks like the people the ads are aimed at.

..The constant barrage of unrealistically skinny images can stir up feelings of inadequacy, anxiety and depression. It can even lead to the development of eating disorders like anorexia and bulimia (www.mirror-mirror.org)

"THE GLOW

  • Dance to Your Favorite Song
  • Admire something
  • Begin relationship with your mirror
  • Kill negative thoughts
  • Smile : )

WE ARE THE VICTIMS OF MEDIA!

"Body Image" is the way that someone perceives their body and assumes that others perceive them. This image is often affected by family, friends, social pressure and the media.

Advantages

  • Feel good about who we are
  • Likely to nurture it in a way that is healthy for the body, mind and spirit
  • Surrounded by positive energy and people
  • The time you have spent is more important than worrying about the body
  • Eat whatever we want

CONCLUSION
Perfection is dull, if not impossible. Being happy with your body doesn't mean that everything is perfect. It simply means you've chosen to embrace your imperfections. It means the bump at the bridge of your nose is a beautiful, fabulous part of your being.

Often the things that hold the most beauty are our quirks, scars, and other little intrigues. Let them be, and learn to love and respect them. : )
