PRESENTATION OUTLINE
How to be a GRADUATE-LEVEL
writer
1. Write like it's your job.
Learn to schedule out projects, give yourself deadlines, and write regularly, even when you are busy or don't
feel like it.
2. Write for real audiences.
When writing for a class, remember that your instructor is also your colleague.
3. Understand your writing habits and develop workable writing processes.
4. Learn to deal with ups and downs, including strengths and weaknesses, unhappy periods, and freakouts.
5. Take your writing public.
Utilize your network: your cohort, colleagues, faculty, and mentors.
Utilize the Writing Center/OWL.
Talk about your process and drafts, not just
the final deliverables.
