HOW TO BECOME A VET:

  • To enter the field, one must usually earn a bachelors
  • degree.
  • And then complete a four-year veterinary medicine program.
  • To earn a doctor of veterinary medicine, one must licensure and then
  • may still work in small animal clinics.

WHAT A VET DOES:

  • Vets prevent and treat illnesses and injuries in animals.
  • They might specialize in a type of veterinary medicine, such as surgery,
  • and/or a group of animals such as ( horses, dogs, or wildlife. )

VETS DUTIES:

  • Diagnosing patients, prescribing medication, preforming surgery, giving
  • vaccinations, and providing heath care recommendations to pet owners.
  • May also conduct research in areas such as biomedical sciences.

DEGREE:

  • Doctorate required
  • Veterinary medicine
  • Licensure: must pass the North American veterinary licensing exam to
  • earn licensure.
  • Experience: varies widely to each employer and field of practice.
