HOW TO BUILD A ROLLER COASTER

MATERIALS

FUNNEL

• Use scissors to cut around the dark line on the template. Cut the solid straight line to the middle of the funnel. Cut a small circle in the middle. Take one side (left) and lay it over the top of the right side of the paper until the grid is covered. Tape the funnel at the bottom so it stays together. Cut out the sides to make the wall that goes around the outside of the funnel. Fold the tables on the bottom to a 45 degrees angle. Then, tape the jagged side of the wall on the underside of the funnel. Finally, fold the sides of the wall up so they stay up next to the funnel

BEAM

• Using the straight template, cut out the beam from the temple 2 Fold on all of the dotted line. 3 Then tape it in the middle. 4 After that tape it were you want to put it on your roller cooler coaster. 5 Repeat steps 1-4 30 times

CURVE

• Curve Using the curve template, cut on the solid line . 2 Then take the flaps and fold on the dotted line. 3 After that fold the paper os there are no gaps between the tables. 4 Then tape together. 5 Repeat 5 times.

TRACK

• Using the straight track template, cut the solid line. 2 You will get to tracks out of one piece of paper. 3 Fold the track on the dotted line it looks like a u. 4 Repeat steps 1-3 until you have 25 tracks

LOOP

• Using the loop template, cut along the solid line. This includes the flaps. 2 Fold the flaps up. Then overlap each flap with its neighbor until each. shaded area is covered. Tape in place. 3 Do step 2 with both sides of your loop. 4 Your finished loop will look like a snail.

STRUCTURE

• Put your base on your table. 2 Take one column and fold out the flaps. Set the column vertically front left corner. Tape down the flaps. 3 Take another column and place it vertically one beam’s width away in the back left corner. Tape down the flaps. 4 Repeat steps 2-3 one beam’s width away in the middle and on the right side. 5 Take one beam and place it horizontally between the front left column and front middle column. 6 Fold the flaps around the columns and tape them in place. 7 Repeat steps 5-6 all the way around the outside of the structure. 8 Repeat steps 5-6 to connect the middle columns. 9 Repeat steps 2-8 to make a second level. 10 Repeat steps 2-7 on the left side and the middle columns to create two more levels

ROLLER COASTER

• Put two support beam in the middle of the first and second tiers on the back and left side. Tape together the track and funnel. Then position it in the corner made by the beams and tape it down. Then take a track and put it under the funnel and run it to the front right corner. Then add a curve that goes around the column and then add a track &½ on the end of it. Put a turn sitting on the beam in side the column. At the top of the second level put the second funnel in the middle.put two support beams on both side to hold it up and connect the turn and the funnel. Put a track on the bottom of the funnel going down to the beam that holds the top of the third level in the middle. Then add a loop. Put a beam across the top of the loop so the marble doesn’t move the loop as it goes through it. Then put a straight track going to the right. Then put a curve around the outside of the column. Then add one straight tracks across the back of the structure. Take two pieces of track and make a 90 degree corner turn. Add to the attached track and make it go on the outside of the column. Repeat steps 7-8 until you go around your structure one time. At the end of the track put a curve and put two straight tracks then on the end put a curve. Add two pieces of track that angles down a little. Then put a funnel on the end of that. Then attach the basket to the base underneath the funnel
