Choosing a toy can seem difficult, especially if it's for the first time.

Companies are constantly innovating in patterns, vibrations, textures and all the trivia. To avoid being disappointed, you shouldn't choose one on a whim. You have to question yourself in order to recognize yourself. Don't worry, even the most experienced in the industry still question themselves before making their choice!

STEP 1: THE BUDGET!
It is important to know first and foremost the budget you want to put into it. Do you want a toy that's not too expensive, that will last as long as you need it, but that will allow you to test your taste before investing in a better performing toy with better quality? Or are you one of those who don't want to invest unnecessarily and who prefer to start with quality; a toy that will last at least ten years?

STAGE 2: CLITORAL, VAGINAL, ANAL STIMULATION? VIBRATING OR NOT?
Once you've answered the first question, it's time to ask yourself what kind of stimulation you need to achieve absolute pleasure. Every woman is different. Some will need clitoral stimulation only, others will need vaginal, or clitoral and vaginal stimulation, or even adding rectal stimulation. There are many toys for each category of pleasure. Once this issue is resolved, the choices diminish before you know it! Some people do not know if they want a vibration if they have not yet experienced this effect.

Why not kill two birds with one stone? If you do not know if you want a vibrating or simply a dildo (which does not vibrate), we advise you to take a vibrating, even if you don't want the vibration. It's better to have it in case you don't like the opposite!

STEP 3: WHAT ABOUT THE TEXTURE?

Then there is the question of texture. Do you want a toy made of silicone, plastic, stainless steel or glass? It may seem difficult to make a choice without knowing the differences, but it is essential that the texture matches your taste. If, for example, you use a glass vibrator, but don't like the stiff texture, then it's better to go for a softer one. At the time of purchase, it is important to opt for a texture that is easy to care for and that disinfects well, thus avoiding the risk of infection. We will come back to maintenance a little later. Some materials are still not recommended, for example, phthalate, which can be composed of toxic products that can be dangerous to your health.

STEP 4: BATTERIES OR RECHARGEABLE?

If you opt for a vibrating toy, do you want a battery-powered or rechargeable toy? Often, this question is related to the price you want to pay for it. A rechargeable toy will cost a little more, but you save yourself the trouble of constantly having to buy new batteries to run your toy. This saves you money in the long run and you'll avoid having to deal with the unexpected, such as running out of batteries at the wrong time and having to put off enjoying your toy until later! Then if you decide to go for a battery-powered toy, you need to know which ones to use!

STEP 5: IS IT FOR A COUPLE?

If you choose a toy for a couple, you should know that there are toys specially designed to be worn during sex. Whether in the form of an erection ring (vibrating or not) or a model where the woman inserts it before penetration so that both partners can enjoy the pleasure of the couple's toy. Others will want to use a standard vibrator where it is possible to hold it so that the woman can derive clitoral pleasure from it during penetration. In this second case, any vibrator will do!

STEP 6: LUBRICANT SELECTION AND MAINTENANCE!

So you're at the stage where you've made your choice, you're ready to buy your toy, but before you go to the checkout you have to think about two things: the lubricant and the disinfectant! The lubricant: Depending on whether your toy is made of silicone or not, you won't be able to use just any lube. The water-based lubricant is compatible with all toys, we can find some with edible flavors or standards. However, the texture may become a little sticky, depending on your personal pH. If you want a long-lasting lubricant without the stickiness, silicone is recommended. Be careful with the choice of a lube!

To be sure, we recommend using Silicone-based, hypoallergenic, no aftertaste, no smell. Unless your toy is made of glass or ceramic, you will need to use a specialized disinfectant to clean your sex toys. Soapy water will not disinfect silicone or plastic. This can lead to the risk of transmitting infections. If your toy is made of glass, you can use soapy water to disinfect it!

You are now ready to buy your first sex toy. Follow these steps and you will be sure not to make a mistake!
