Want to design a beautiful post for social media that captures the attention of your users? Follow these few quick steps to help you.

1. Choose "social media graphic" from the design selector menu.
2. Choose a layout that you like on the "Layouts" tab. You can change any aspect of the layout - the text, the colors, the images - but it’s a great starting point.
3. Select the layout you want. Drag the layout onto your page and it will snap into place.
4. Use an image from Canva’s library. Search in the search bar (it can be found up at the top). For instance, if you want to change this post so it’s for winter, search for ‘winter tree’. Alternatively, you can upload your own images using the Uploads tab. You can also pull images directly from Facebook.
5. Roll your mouse over the image to find the price. It doesn’t cost you anything until you export the image, so you can try using as many images as you'd like.
6. Choose the image that you like and drag it straight onto my page. This replaces the image that was in the background previously. You can see there is a watermark over the image (the criss-cross pattern). This will be removed when you publish your design. If you don’t like the image and want to try another one, it doesn’t cost you anything.
7. Change the text by clicking on it. You can see the options appear to change the font, the font size and color.
8. Change the color of any of the elements. Click on the element and the color selector will appear. You can choose one of the colors on the palette, or add your own color. If you have a company color, you also have the option to paste in the color value (hex code).
9. Change the brightness, contrast, saturation, blur and transparency of your images. All you have to do is click on the image and then click ‘More’. You can choose the options that you want to alter.
10. Finish your design. Then, click ‘Link and Publish’ in the top right of your screen. This is also the place where you can get a link to share on Twitter, or to share with others who you want to collaborate with on the design.
If you want to use this graphic for social media, you can publish my design as an image, which is perfect for the web.
11. Pay for the Premium image that you have used in your design. You can choose to pay $1, or buy credits in bulk so you can get a discount. You don’t have to edit your credit card details if you have purchased using Canva before, but if this is your first purchase, you'll need to enter them.
