Fraction by fraction

Method 1

Divide straight across

For example
2/3 divided by 1/3
is the same as
2 divided by 1=2
3 divided by 3=1

So 2/3 divided by 1/3=2

Easy right?

Method 2

Find a multiple that is friendly or divisable

If you fractions are not friendly try making them friendly

Such as 2/3 divided by 1/4

This can't be divided by using method 1, so try multiplying the numerator and denominator on both fractions by a multiple that both have

3 and 4's closest multiple is 12.
So it would be 8/12 divided by 3/12

Method 3

Divide by the recipocal

The reciprocal
(re·cip·ro·cal) is the mathematical expression or function so related to another that their product is one; the quantity obtained by dividing the number one by a given quantity.

In other words, the reciprocal is a improper fraction that is the original fraction upside down.

When multiplied with the original fraction, it will always = 1

And THAT'S it
