Gift wrapping since 105 AD, the invention of paper. In china paper making process was sacred and kept secret.

Wrapping presents for Christmas flourished in Victorian Period. Giving christmas gifts was considered privilege of the wealthy.

Wrapping paper was elaborately printed with laces and ribbons. Included images of robins, angels, churches, and St. Nicholas. Paper was often very sturdy and tiff, hard to bend.

Early 1920's plain tissue paper used as wrapping paper

During holiday season of 1917, the Hall Brother's store sold out of tissue paper and started using decorative French envelope liners. Became very successful and sold out immediately.

Step 1

Pick a type of wrapping paper

Step 2

Measure the paper by rolling the box across 

Step 3

Cut the paper using scissors or a table knife 

Step 4

center box and pull one side of paper up 

step 5

fold the other side up and tape down

step 6

on the sides fold the ends towards the center

step 7

fold the flap with the seam down and tape it 

step 8

fold the other flap without the seam down and tape it

step 9

repeat steps 6 through 8 on the other side

step 10

add some ribbons and bows

step 11
