PRESENTATION OUTLINE
How to Play a Barre Chord on Guitar
1. The names of the strings are e (1st), B (2nd), G (3rd), D (4th), A (5th) and E (6th)
2. To barre a fret, you need to lay your pointer finger over a fret and press down hard.
3. Barre chords play different notes depending where they are on the fret board so you need to know the names of the frets on the sixth (E) string.
4. Decide which note you want to play. The notes on the sixth string are F, F#, G, G#, A, A#, B, C, C#, D, D# and E.
5. Barre the fret of the note you want to play.
6. Put your middle finger on the G (3rd) string on the next fret.
7. Put your ring finger on the A (5th) string on the next fret.
8. Put your pinkie finger on the D (4th) string on the same fret as the last one.
9. Strum the guitar from the 6th string down.
10. Move the same formation around on the fret board to play more notes!
