The Theory of Plate Tectonics
A scientific theory that the Earth's surface is made up of very large sections that move as slowly as your fingernails grow.

Volcanoes
At plate boundaries huge pieces of the crust diverge or converge. As a result the crust often fractures allowing magma to reach the surface.

Earthquakes
One theory is that covetion within the Earth's mantle pushes the plates and some times they collide. When they collide it causes the earthquakes on mid ocean riges.
