  • When you breathe out, you get rid of carbon dioxide that your cells give off.
  • Theses red blood cells are shown magnified about 25,000 times.
  • Your red blood cells replace themselves every 120 days.
  • Cardiac muscle makes up the walls of the heart.

MUSCULAR SYSTEM

3 types of muscles: cardiac muscles, skeletal muscles, smooth muscles

VOCABULARY WORDS

  • Organ: The main organs of the respiratory system.
  • Cardiac muscle:A muscle that works without thinking
  • Smooth muscle:Helps your organs inside your body do their jobs.
  • Lungs:either of the two saclike respiratory organs in the thorax of humans and the higher vertebrates.
  • Heart: A muscle that pumps blood through your blood vesicles.
  • Artery:a blood vessel that conveys blood from the heart to any part of the body.
  • Vein:one of the branching vessels or tubes conveying blood from various parts of the body to the heart.
