Oil Spills

  • About 760 million gallons of oil is dumped in the ocean every year
  • Oil in the ocean suffocates marine animals and kills them
  • Turtles and predatory fish eat oil mistaking it for other food
  • Oil killed about 25,900 marine mammals in the Gulf Oil Spill

Overfishing

  • At current rates in 2030 over 40 million tons of seafood will be consumed every year
  • By overfishing we catch unneeded fish Those unneeded fish get wasted
  • Over 2 billion pounds of seafood gets wasted every year
