Racial discrimination is when a person is treated less favourably than another in a similar situation beacuase of their race, colour, descent, nationality, ethnic origin, immagrant status.
And example in histroy of this is the "Apartheid". A political sytem which developed in South Africa that legally separated races into racial groups and gave each group different rights. White people had all the advantages.
World known South African president Nelson Mandela was a champion of the anti-apartheid movement. Nelson had spent 2 7 years in prison. In 1991 he became president of African National Congress, he began to negotiate the future of south Africa.
Racism is the belief that all members of each race possess characteristics or abilities specific to that race, especially so as to distinguish it as inferior or superior to another race or races.
An example in history is when black people were treated and traded like animals by whites. Millions were forced to labour, totured and even killed by their owners.
Ignorance- Lack of knowlege or information. often in their own little bubble Twisted belief in evolution- That whites who are blond and blue eyed are pure human and anyone else is not full human. Racial stereotypes- That certain races carry out the same chararictics. Media pays a big part in this.
An example of ignorance is when there are problems such as shortage of jobs and housing, people tent to want to blame someone who looks different from them.
A friend once told me at her brothers school a white boy had lost something. His white teacher who thought it had been stolen checked in bags of children who were of colour as a way to identify who had stolen it. This is racial segregation and racial discrimination in one.
