•The death penalty is a violation of every human begins rights to life and is cruel, inhuman and degrading punishment.
•Iran carried out a total of 40 execution since the beginning of 2014, with at least 33 carried out in the past week alone.
•More execution happened in one week of january 2014 than the entire month of january 2013.
•21 of the execution were stated by the Iranian authorities while the other 19 were stated by trusted sources.
•One of the executions was public on january 14th 2014.
•Most of those executed in Iran had been convicted of illegal drug-related offences.
•Those types of crimes aren't considered a "most serious crimes".
