How does modern-day slavery exist?

Modern-day slavery happens all over the world to children and adults both.

Child TRafficking

  • Children and teens are a significant amount of victims when trafficked. Although everyone has an equal chance of being a victim, one in 3 of these victims are children. (Child Trafficking 2).

Statistics

  • Girls make up 2 out of every 3 child victims (Child Trafficking 2).
  • Women account for 70% of overall trafficking victims worldwide (Child Trafficking).
  • About 35% of detected victims of forced labor are women (Forced Prostitution Labor 1).
  • There are at least 152 countries of origin & 124 of destination (Child Trafficking 2).
  • There are over 510 trafficking flows around the world (Child Trafficking 2).
  • Most human trafficking cases involve luring or threatening the victim (Nefarious 1).

Victims

  • Victims are beaten, held hostage, raped, and robbed by customers. (Nefarious 1).
  • Victims are not just violated sexually.
  • Victims are beaten, held hostage, raped, and robbed by customers. (Nefarious 1).

Forcing VICTIMS

  • Prostitutes are the slaves of human trafficking. These women do not prostitute freely. Some of the women are take against their will and trafficked (Child Trafficking 2).

Conclusion

  • Human trafficking is a big problem in today's society and victims have mental and physical scars. People need to be more aware of the situation and how bad it really is. 120+ countries are trafficking children and it's escalating.
