HUMANISM

  • Humanism is for those who love life, crave knowledge and seek to better education
  • a humanist is someone inspiring and has influence others to do great things
  • You don't have to say whether you are a humanist or not

ERASMUS

  • Erasmus is one of the greatest scholars due to his travels
  • On these travels he taught humanism, pacifism and conversed with other humanists
  • He took ancient writings and translated them into Latin
  • He was a important person in history because of how he lived his life

CERVANTES

  • Cervantes is considered to be the best Spanish writer.
  • He is very famous for his writings and poetry.

PETRARCH

  • Petrarch is considered to be the founder of humanism
  • He has been credited with the idea of change and devising a system of education for the 14th/15th century
  • He Was A Popular poets of the medieval ages which inspired many others such as Shakespeare
  • Petrarch devoted a lot of his time writing and mentoring those interested in writing
  • His writing was also used to put together the Italian language

BOCCACCIO

  • Giovanni Boccaccio is also considered a founder of the Renaissance
  • While he studied law and business for a while, his initial interest was in poetry and writing
  • He was a humanist, and has part credit for creating humanism
  • His greatest work is The Decameron
  • it tells a hundred stories of men and women who escape from the plague

RABELAIS

  • Rabelais influenced many important writers
  • is called a modernism precursor
  • His best known work is Gargantua and Pantagruel
  • which tells the story of two giants and their shared adventures
  • he had a healthy and strong balance between mind and body

SHAKESPEARE

  • Shakespeare brought new and fresh ideas with realism, drama and created hundreds of believable characters.
  • He was a man of culture and knew all about the classics
  • Shakespeare's drama was a thing that both delighted and frustrated humanism
  • he was a man that carried all the characteristics of a humanist.
  • He's a great influence and inspiration to many because of the way he wrote.

DA VINCI

  • Leonardo da Vinci was a painter, draftsman, sculptor, architect, and genius
  • His paintings the Mona Lisa and The Last Supper are most popular
  • He was very interested in the natural world, human body and machines that would improve human experience
  • Da Vinci had a fascination with anatomy, constantly studying what he could and perfecting his drawings
  • He most likely wouldn't refer to himself as a humanist, as solitary as he was, but he was just that
