#3 The Loleta Cheese Factory

Watch cheese being made and have lunch in the garden
A small local Cheese Factory where you can watch cheese being made, sample the many unique varieties they make, and then have lunch out in their beautiful garden.

#4 The SeQuoia Park Zoo

The Oldest Zoo in California 
Not only is Sequoia Park Zoo the oldest zoo in California, it is the smallest accredited zoo in the United States. It is a beautiful zoo with some interesting little critters plus beautiful gardens, a park and playground next door, as well as a short but magnificent redwood grove and drive right in the middle of town.

#5  The Carson Mansion

Often called the grandest Victorian in America
A home often touted as the grandest Victorian home in America. Built in 1884 it is now home to a private local club.

#6 The Madaket

Take a Tour Around Eureka Harbor
The Madaket is a small boat often regarded as the oldest passenger ferry still in operation. The Madaket gives local harbor tours and even has a five o’clock cocktail cruise. Built in 1909, the Madaket has the smallest licensed bar in California and is one of 700 registered historic vessels in the United States.

#7 The Samoa Cookhouse

Dining - Lumberjack camp Style!
In operation since 1890 the Samoa Cookhouse as the last surviving cookhouse in the west, The Samoa Cookhouse and Museum offers great food lumberjack camp style! They serve breakfast, lunch, and dinner and you will never leave hungry!

#8 The Arcata Plaza

Step back in time
A true town square with unique shops and bistros. Often times visitors feel as though they are being transported in time back to the 1960’s when visiting. Saturday mornings from spring to fall the Plaza hosts a unique and very popular Farmer's Market.

#9 The Town of Trinidad

A little seaside gem
Trinidad is a small harbor town with a population just over 300. This little town has it all; friendly people, a smokehouse where you can buy fresh fish, a museum, a gallery, a few unique shops and eateries, a lighthouse, a pier where you can watch seal and otters, Humboldt State Marie Lab, and of course the beach. This town is truly a little gem just off highway 101 that often goes unnoticed by travellers.

#10 Patrick's Point State Park

Trees, Beach, Hiking Trails, Wildlife, and More!
This park is packed with beauty and potential adventures. From the trees to the beaches you can walk through a jungle of shrubs and trees, put your feet in the sand, hunt for agates, explore tidepools, and easily spot seals, sea lions, and occasionally whales. The park’s has a visitor center, a native plant garden, and a re-constructed Yurok plank-house village.

#11 Prairie Creek State Park

Elk Crossing!
Also for day use or camping Prairie Creek is known for the elk that roam freely in the area as well as the beautiful coastal redwoods.

#12 Fern Canyon

A Spectacular sight to see
A bit of a drive from the main road but well worth the trip, Fern Canyon is an incredible sight to see with walls covered in ferns and mosses dripping with moisture. Truly and incredible site and chosen as a movie location for Jurassic Park - The Lost World.
