The National Hurricane Center records that the hurricane season in the Atlantic begins June 1st and ends November 30th. The Eastern Pacific hurricane season begins May 15th and also ends November 30th. On that note, now is a good time to examine the government bids and RFPs submitted, which are related to hurricanes. In addition, we’ve analyzed corresponding intelligence concerning tsunamis.
Of course, it isn’t much of a revelation that coastal states have submitted the sweeping majority of associated bids. The front runners, in terms of the most bids submitted by specific regions, are New York, Louisiana, Rhode Island, and Texas, in that order.
Department of the Army, Department of the Interior, Department of Homeland Security, and Department of the Commerce are the federal agencies most active in presenting hurricane-related bids for consideration.
The following is a brief sample of associated bid types submitted regarding “tsunamis”: Data Collection and Analysis, Detection System, Risk Perception Report, Buoy Detection System, Strong Motion Accelerometer, Forecast Model, Hazard Analysis, Debris Search, Safety Booklet, Evacuation Maps, Ocean Wave Glider, Land Use Guidance, VSAT Communication Circuits, Incident Command Systems Training
In summary, it follows that many government agencies are embracing the National Hurricane Center’s instruction, “Be prepared - Get A PLAN!”. What about your community?
