WHAT DAMAGE CAN A HURRICANE DO?

  • The most commonly known damage is by wind. The wind can damage buildings, and blow trees onto power lines.
  • Hurricanes loose their strength over land, and can dump a lot of rain on a local area in a very short period of time.
  • The damaged electrical lines cause water distributions systems to break down, leaving residents without drinkable water.
  • Flash flooding can occur
