Hydroelectric dam
The hydroelectric dam uses water from lake as a way to turn the generator, when you open the sluice gate at the bottom of the dam, water flows through the dam at high pressure. The power of the flowing water turns a turbine, which powers the generator, which provides power to you homes and businesses.

Hydroelectric dams could potentially be used power thousands of homes.

EXAMPLES OF CURRENT USES ARE:

  • Hoover dam.
  • Niagra falls dam.
  • Chief Joseph dam.
  • John day dam.

The hydroelectric dams actually help the environment. Since they use water power, they emit no harmful gases like carbon dioxide.
