PRESENTATION OUTLINE

HYDROELECTRIC POWER PLANTS

HOW DOES IT WORK?

What are the benifits?
There are countless benefits in using hydroelectric power plants for energy resources. The one that seems to be the most important is that it is guaranteed a renewable source. Also the fact that we are reassured that our water, cost, and energy stability will be consistent throughout our use with these plants.

Hydroelectricity disadvantages:
1. Extreme levels of methane and carbon dioxide are released into the water
2. The cost to build the dams are unbelievably expensive
3. The risk that these structures may break would cause extreme damage for miles, resulting in major flooding and destruction of property

FUN FACTS

  • Accounts for about 96% of the U.S. renewable energy
  • The average cost of a dam is $20 billion
  • The Hoover Dam used enough concrete to make a 4000 mile road
