PRESENTATION OUTLINE
Definition of Hydropower
Hydropower is a great source of alternative energy because it is energy created by water running through a dam, and it produces no pollution in making the renewable energy (Mæhlum).
Issues
In the U.S.A., why isn't hydropower being used to its full advantages?
This problem is caused by the disadvantages of hydropower, and the solutions can be found by the society of the United States.
ADVANTAGES
- Uses already made nature sources, like rivers.
- Hydropower is a great source of alternative energy (Mæhlum).
DISADVANTAGES
- The emission of carbon dioxide and methane ("Disadvantages Of Hydro Power.") (Mæhlum).
- Installation costs ("Disadvantages Of Hydro Power.").
- The disturbance of habitat of both animals and people ("Disadvantages Of Hydro Power.").
Issues (cont.)
The emission of carbon dioxide and methane also happens in the process of building the huge dam and power plant of hydroelectricity (Mæhlum) ("Disadvantages Of Hydro Power.").
SOLUTIONS
- Looking at how other countries use hydropower
- Look at how well the Hoover Dam is doing
- Government researching on hydropower
Conclusion
"Hydropower is one of the most widely used renewable sources of energy and power generation across the world ("2013 Report Analyzing Hydropower In Emerging Markets)." Why can't it be more prominent in the United States?
