Hepatitis c is a contagious liver disease that ranges in severity from a mild illness lasting a few weeks to a serious ,lifelong illness that attacks the liver
Facts
-you can contract the disease from taking drugs
-you can contract the disease from having unprotected sex
-some countries do not check for the infection
Hepatitis c is spread through the blood stream
can be transmitted through drugs or unprotected sex
Symptoms
- 60-70 people will develop chronic liver disease
- 5-20 peaple will develop cirrhosis
- 1-5 people will die from cirrhosis or liver disease
Long term effects
-sever liver damage
-cirrhosis
-liver failure
Treatment-antibiotics are used to fight infection to delay effects
You can prevent yourself from getting the infection by being abstinent,having safe sex,or not using drugs
